Mr and Mrs Big

This is Aleks and Michael's blog, detailing all of the fun and crazy stuff we do. It's not a place to be cute, or to let everyone see how much we love each other. It's really just a forum to get on each other's nerves.

Hey peeps

Yeah, time to focus on another blog. Aleks is about 70% right with the cooking post...but I'm wondering if this is going to turn into a self-help for couples?

Like, what happens if we break up but some of these ideas were really great? Then people will be like, "Oh, well we shouldn't cook together because they ended up apart."

The other night I was over at Aleks' and I started to cry. Not because I fell down the stairs, but because I was scared. I don't have to sing the praises of Aleks on here - and frankly this post isn't about her at all. It's about fear.

Fear because for that moment, I didn't think I could make a future for us. I don't know if it's just me, but I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to provide for us a good life. The prospect of being with Aleks doesn't scare me, it's that I won't be a provider.

Ugh. Well I feel a lot better now than that other night but I'm wondering if anyone else has had that same thought.

You can both be hunters and gatherers! I've seen and heard of it happening before...a very natural phenomenon for the man used to old school/classic/traditional values. I believe it's an important stage in the transition to today's modern man.
:D not to encourage you to be lazy or anything like that, but Aleks seems so happy that shoould you be down and out, I'm sure she wouldn't mind being the main winner of the bread. ;)
p.s. It's really how you both dealt with it that matters now...I'm guessing things are better now?

"BREAKING NEWS"
===============

-Energy and Asset Technology, Inc. (EGTY) owns a global license to market
the genetically enhanced Global Cedar growth trees, with plans to
REVOLUTIONIZE the forest-timber industry.

These newly enhanced Globa| Cedar trees require only 9-12 years of growth
before they can be harvested for lumber, whereas worldwide growth time for
lumber is 30-50 years.

Other than growing at an astonishing rate, the Global Cedar has a number
of other benefits. Its natural elements make it resistant to termites, and
the lack of oils and sap found in the wood make it resistant to forest fire,
ensuring higher returns on investments.
T
he wood is very lightweight and strong, lighter than Poplar and over twice
as strong as Balsa, which makes it great for construction. It also has
the unique ability to regrow itself from the stump, minimizing the land and
time to replant and develop new root systems.

Based on current resources and agreements, EGTY projects revenues of $140
Million with an approximate profit margin of 40% for each 9-year cycle. With
anticipated growth, EGTY is expected to challenge Deltic Timber Corp. during
its initial 9-year cycle.

Deltic Timber Corp. currently trades at over $38.00 a share with about $153
Million in revenues. As the reputation and demand for the Global Cedar tree
continues to grow around the world EGTY believes additional multi-million
dollar agreements will be forthcoming. The Global Cedar nursery has produced
about 100,000 infant plants and is developing a production growth target of
250,000 infant plants per month.

Energy and Asset Technology is currently in negotiations with land and business
owners in New Zealand, Greece and Malaysia regarding the purchase of their popular
and profitable fast growing infant tree plants. Inquiries from the governments of
Brazil and Ecuador are also being evaluated.

Cooking Partners

The nice thing about Michael, besides being a wonderful boyfriend is that he makes a great cook and a great cooking partner.

The first time he ever cooked for me was New Years where he made lobster pasta. Let me tell you it was delicious. You know the saying, "you can get to a man's heart through the stomach", well, in this case he got my heart (but not only through his cooking).

Michael and I usually cook together. It really is quite nice. It's something we can do together and it's also fun, well at least we try to make it fun, right?

I'm usually stuck cutting vegetables. Maybe not stuck but assigned to cut vegetables. Is there something I don't know about guys and cutting vegetables? My friend Barb was always stuck cutting vegetables while cooking with her boyfriend. Nevertheless, I don't mind it that much. Michael always takes care of cooking the pasta, because I tend to overcook it.

Our cooking is a team effort. There has never been a time where something messed up, other than me always making a mess in the kitchen, spilling or dropping food. Oops! Honest, I'm a good cook. Right Michael? A little messy, but hey, I haven't killed anyone with my cooking.

The only thing that Michael and I will disagree on is with adding salt in our food. I'm all about the flavour, but Michael thinks otherwise. I must say that he did compromise the other night; he added salt to the pasta.

Girls get your boyfriends and start cooking. The best part is that it's a team effort and if it doesn't work out, it's not like you'll get all the blame for it. It takes two to Tango; as they say.

The reference library

Aleks told the story of the "Mr and Mrs Big" part, but I bet you're wondering what the reference library crap is all about. And yeah, I know...too long to be typing in all the time, too.

Well credit goes to Stefany Alicia who dragged me to the Toronto Reference Library one blistery fall day. I was decked out in my heavy Point Zero sweater and grey (lightly) corduroy pants.

We were going to meet up with Stef's friend Aleks, who I'd never met before. Kudos to Stef for recognising that I was single, lonely, and 18 in Toronto. Okay, she didn't try to hook us up...but as soon as I saw Aleks I knew I had to get to know her.

Funny thing was, I got real sick real fast. Just like Stan on South Park (where he'd barf every time Wendy talked to him), my stomach started rumbling and (excuse me, but...) my ass was doing strange things.

Stef and Aleks were nice enough to wait for me to finish up in the washroom, then we went to my house for Thai food. The whole way home I was like, "I'm really not like this...I'm like 10% of how I am normally...I'm sorry for being sick..." and on and on and on.

At least Aleks took pity on me, because the next time I saw her (at Babaloo's), I left with her friend Tessa but still got her number. I think. Oh -- I was sick at Babaloo's, too. Bad. And while the love of my life and Miss Cupid (Stef) were salsa-ing it up on the dance floor, I was sitting and hoping my intestines wouldn't burst.

I guess that's it for the first two times we saw each other. Pretty soon I think we'll talk about skating and stuff. Should be good times.

Mr and Mrs Big

You are probably wondering why we decided to name this blog what we did. Honestly, there is significance. Here's the story. When Michael and I were "just friends" we went shopping to IKEA, where Michael bought a plant cuz he needed something to take care of.

I'm not even sure how it came about but the plant had a name; Mr. Big. Since we started going out on our 3 month anniversary, Michael surprised me with an identical plant naming it what else but Mrs. Big. It may seem cheezy, but hey I'm a sucker for cheeze.
